Rents are reaching historic highs

Median rental prices in the Central Okanagan hit record highs in June, according to data from Castanet’s classifieds section.
And one- and two-bedroom rental prices hit their highest marks since Castanet began collecting the data more than 10 years ago.
The median price for a one-bedroom in June was $1,621, up nearly $200 from May and surpassing the previous record of $1,556 set in April. The June figure is based on 40 listings in Castanet’s classifieds section.
Meanwhile, the average price of a two-bedroom apartment in June reached $2,400. The previous high was $2,322, which was set in January of this year. The June average is based on 79 Castanet listings.
