A city appraisal committee has selected Century 21 Choice Realty Inc. to market millions of dollars worth of industrial property in Sault Ste. Marie.
Century 21 was chosen by Re / Max Sault Ste. Marie Realty Inc., by a committee made up of employees from the purchasing, economic and community development and corporate services departments in the city.
At a meeting tonight, the city council is expected to outsource Century 21 for three years with an option for an additional two years if both sides agree.
“The city recognizes the need to better promote the availability of industrial property owned by the city,” said Karen Marlowe, purchasing manager.
“Currently, properties owned by the city are offered for sale only on request and are not published in public.”
“Professional services are to provide real estate advertising services through advanced marketing domains (websites, publications, etc.) and brokerage experience in managing ads and interacting with potential clients,” Marlowe said in a report to Mayor Christian Provenzano and advisers. .
“The funds can be used to further develop and stimulate growth in Sault.”
Last July, the city council decided that our industrial land was severely undervalued and doubled its selling price to $ 50,000 per acre.
At the time, the city had 30 acres of development land on Yates Avenue and 50 acres on Leigh’s Bay Road.
