Today’s FA Cup final between Chelsea and Liverpool will face the two teams competing for the League Cup trophy, only for the second time in the history of the competition.
While not a particularly exciting idea on paper, the way these countries last fought during Wembley’s exciting February final has piqued their appetite.
The story could also benefit the Reds after the Arsenal Cup winner doubled Wembley’s victory over Sheffield Wednesday in the only previous case, in 1992/93.
Indeed, rarely 0-0 turns out to be so exciting and even in the context of the Premier League, there was so little to separate the two teams throughout the season. Both matches in this competition ended 2-2, despite the healthy lead of Liverpool over Chelsea in the table.
Although Jurgen Klopp’s attempts to catch Manchester City have been tough in recent days, the German can still win all three Cup races this season and the fact that he has already won Chelsea in a knockout race cannot be ignored.
However, the team of Thomas Tuchel are masters of this type of football. Under his supervision, Chelsea reached the final of each competition and it is worth remembering that they beat City in the Champions League, despite some uneven forms in the league. Two of the funniest countries in Europe, this will be a real occasion.

Ben Chillwell and Callum Hudson-Odoi are absent for Chelsea, but Tuhel confirmed his plans to risk Mateo Kovacic despite his ankle injury.
“Mateo wants to try it and the medical department has given the green light to try it,” he said on Friday. “The relationship has been stretched since the last incident anyway, so there is no new injury other than severe pain and it is severely swollen.”
Liverpool, meanwhile, saw Fabinho limp on Tuesday’s victory over Aston Villa, and Klopp has since removed the Brazilian from the game. However, Klopp confirmed that he will be ready for the Champions League final against Real Madrid on May 28.
Andy Robertson had rested for that game at Villa Park, and Mohamed Salah was taken off the bench. Both will certainly start this afternoon.

Prediction for Chelsea against Liverpool
There was so little to separate the two teams this season, although Chelsea have looked much more unstructured in the big games lately. Given their firepower, Liverpool could benefit.
