Toronto police say the incident, originally reported to them as a kidnapping on a subway train, was simply a misunderstanding.
Const. of the Toronto Police. David Hopkinson says police were called after a man was seen carrying a child in a pushchair at Victoria Park tube station before 5pm
The TTC said suspended trains between Kennedy and McCowan stations were closed until 5:49 p.m. due to a “security-related incident.”
The man and child were last seen heading east on the subway toward Kennedy Station.
Officers later met with the man and child, Hopkinson said.
Neither party was injured.
A staff sergeant from TPS 41 Division later told CP24 that there was no kidnapping and the matter was a misunderstanding “between two separate parties.”
