Covid Memorial burns to the ground in an act of “healing”

It was built in collaboration with the independent art company Artichoke, as well as members of the North Warwickshire community, including more than 500 people from local schools and community groups.

The wooden memorial was erected in the welfare park of miners in Bedworth, Warwickshire, where it stood a week before the cremation and where since last Saturday thousands of members of society have left letters and messages to loved ones who have lost.

At sunset on Saturday night, the artwork was razed to the ground in front of 10,000 people in an act Mr Best said was aimed at “helping people heal” from the trauma of the pandemic.
