Cristiano Ronaldo breaks silence over Eric Ten Hague’s appointment to Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo has warned that Eric ten Hague will need time to succeed at Manchester United, although he remains hopeful that the club will fight for trophies next season.

Despite Ronaldo’s goal-scoring feats – for which he was crowned Premier League player of the month in April – United endured another grim season and their trophy drought has now been extended to five years. One thing the club managed to achieve, however, was their goal of hiring their next permanent manager before the end of the campaign.

It has been announced that Ajax boss Ten Haag will take over last summer after a £ 1.75 million fee was agreed to be released from his contract in Amsterdam. The 52-year-old footballer signed a three-year deal with an option for another 12 months.

Ronaldo was impressed by Ten Hague’s exploits at Ajax, but made it clear that he needed time and power to make a major change at Old Trafford if the club finally returned to its former glory.

“I know he did a fantastic job at Ajax and is an experienced coach,” he told United’s domestic media. “But we have to give him time.

“Things have to change the way he wants to. If he does well, the whole of Manchester United will be successful, so I wish him success. We are all happy and excited, not only as players but also as fans. We have to believe that we can win titles next year. “

However, Ronaldo’s future remains in doubt due to the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League. The Portuguese’s contract does not expire until 2023, but with an option to extend it by one year.
