Danger! has a long history of punishing contestants for small mistakes, but on Wednesday the show itself made the mistake. Less than a week after contestant Sadie Goldberger was disqualified for an illegible response that seemed quite legible to many viewers, the show’s production team made a typo in Final Jeopardy! clues.
The category was 19th Century Literature, and the clue was, “This author first thought of a parrot before choosing another bird.” [sp] able to speak. “
As the iconic music spun and the contestants’ brains spun, several eagle-eyed spectators noticed that the word “equal” had an additional L.
Athlete Jeff Weinstock had no problem turning that extra L into a big W, as he correctly answered, “Who’s Edgar Allan Poe?” He bet $ 4.202 and finished with the highest of $ 11.202. He also ended the impressive series of six-day champion Megan Vahspress.
Wachspress’s six victories automatically qualify her for the Champions Tournament. So she will be back in November.
