“It is now clear to me, after the census is largely over, that we have a nominee. And today I called Mehmet Oz to congratulate him on his victory. And I told him what I always told you I would do my part to try to unite Republicans and Pennsylvania behind his candidacy, behind his Senate nomination. It’s so important for Pennsylvania, it’s so important that we beat John Fireman, “McCormick said.
Oz, who received the approval of former President Trump in the race, responded to McCormick’s recognition by saying: “I received a kind phone call from David McCormick tonight and I am extremely grateful for his promise to support the fall election. We share the goal of a brighter future for Pennsylvania and America. Now that our primary is over, we will make sure that this seat in the US Senate does not fall into the hands of the radical left, led by John Feterman. I look forward to campaigning in every corner of the Commonwealth for the next five months to win the support of every Pennsylvanian. “
The Pennsylvania Department of State has said it will continue its recount, despite McCormick’s concession.
“Despite the fact that David McCormick ceded the race in the Senate to the Republicans in Pennsylvania to Mehmet Oz, the automatic counting of the race will continue, as ordered by the secretary. The deadline for the defeated candidate to waive the recount has expired and there is no provision in the Electoral Code authorizing the secretary to suspend the automatic census once it has been ordered. The counties must continue their efforts to complete their recount by noon on June 7 and present their results to the secretary by noon on June 8. ”
Katie Barnett, a former Republican primary candidate in the U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania, said: “I believe it’s time to look forward to the new PA leadership and look forward to helping overcome the PA with my good friend Senator Doug Magriano. “.
