Defender of Arizona Cardinals Jeff Hungry dies in car crash at age 25

Defender of the Arizona Cardinals, Jeff Hungry, died in a car crash on Monday, his agent confirmed to CBS News. He was 25 years old.

The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. local time on the Woodall Rogers Highway service road in Dallas, CBS Dallas / Fort Worth reported.

According to CBS DFW, investigators believe that one vehicle was speeding and cut a second vehicle in the back. The overrunning vehicle then lost control and hit a support beam.

A second passenger in the speeding vehicle was also killed, CBS DFW reports. Both victims were pronounced dead on the spot. The second victim has not yet been identified.

The second vehicle was also occupied by two people, but neither was seriously injured, according to CBS DFW.

Hungry plays college top for TCU Horned Frogs, where he was named the first All-Big 12 team in his final year in 2019. He was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the first round of the NFL 2020 draft, but was released in August 2021. after being charged with domestic violence. Hungry was acquitted in March this year and was signed by the Cardinals the same month.
