The BBC has denied viewers’ claims that Diana Ross imitated during her performance at the Platinum Party at the Palace.
The Motown legend closed the show at Buckingham Palace on Saturday night.
Some viewers on BBC One pointed to a moment when Ross kissed the crowd, but her vocals seemed to continue.
To the audience in the palace, the star’s vocals seemed out of tune during her first song, Chain Reaction, but they were still in the mood for the TV show.
However, a BBC Studios spokesman who produced the show said: “Miss Ross sang live throughout her performance and was also supported by backing vocals and a live orchestra and choir.”
Ross seemed to be adjusting a monitor attached to her belt during the first minutes of her set. Performers may struggle to sing in tune if they cannot be heard properly.
But sources said the producers were unaware of any sound or technical issues during the set.
It was the first live show in the United Kingdom in 15 years by 78-year-old Ross. This month, she will begin a tour of the United Kingdom, starting at Cardiff Castle on June 10, and on June 26 she will play in the Legends slot at the Glastonbury Festival.
