Dominique Raab asks BBC presenter about petrol price to check “how much you’re in touch”

Justice Minister Dominique Raab asked a BBC presenter how much a liter of unleaded petrol costs, adding: “I’m just checking to see how connected you are.”

This comes as fuel prices rose to record highs, with statistics from data firm Experian Catalist showing that the average price of a liter of petrol in the UK’s front yard on Wednesday was 168.2 p.

That rose 167.6 pence a liter on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, diesel prices averaged 181.0p per liter on Wednesday, up from 180.9p. a day earlier.

On Friday, BBC Breakfast host Charlie State asked the Deputy Prime Minister how much a liter of diesel costs.

Mr Raab said he was buying unleaded, and the last time he visited a petrol station was 1.65-1.67 per liter.

However, Mr State said it had “risen” recently, adding: “What is happening in the real world is that people are trying to deal with things and these pump prices, bypassing them, they are increasing with each passing day. “

Mr. Raab then asked Mr. Stight, “Well, can you tell me what a liter of unleaded is today?”
