With their second pick in the first round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, the Chicago Blackhawks selected Frank Nazar, a forward from the USA National Team Development Program, with the No. 13 overall pick.
Chicago received No. 13 and No. 66 from Montreal during the first round in exchange for forward Kirby Dach.
Nazar, a 5-foot-10, 185-pound native of Mount Clemens, Mich., had 105 points (43G, 62A) in 80 total games with the USA U18 program last season. He also skated in six games for the U.S. at the U18 World Junior Championships, scoring nine points (3G, 6A) as the Americans took silver. Nazar will attend the University of Michigan in the fall to continue his development.
After another trade earlier in the evening, sending Alex DeBrincat to Ottawa in exchange for this year’s No. 7 and No. 39 picks, plus a third-round pick in 2024, Chicago holds seven more 2022 NHL second- and third-round picks The Draft continues Friday morning at 10 a.m. on the NHL Network.
