Rapper Drake has not been arrested in Sweden, his team told The Hollywood Reporter, dispelling the frenzied speculation that gripped social media Thursday night.
Internet speculation suggests that Drake was arrested by local police at a nightclub in Stockholm. His team categorically tells THR that the Grammy winner was at his hotel in the Swedish capital and was not arrested.
As documented in a series of Instagram posts, the Canadian rapper touched down at Sweden’s Arlanda Airport on Wednesday at noon, flying his personal Boeing 767 baby son, dubbed “Air Drake.” Since landing in Sweden, local media have reported that the rapper visited Stockholm’s trendy Ostermalm district and visited Ciccio’s restaurant.
It is unclear if the rapper is in Sweden to record music or for personal reasons.
Last month, Drake released his house-inspired seventh studio album, Honestly, Nevermind, which debuted atop the Billboard 200.
On Wednesday, Drake revealed details of a music festival in his hometown of Toronto later this month. October’s World Rapper Weekend will run from July 28-Aug. 1, with a lineup that included a Young Money reunion featuring Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj, as well as appearances by Lil Baby and Chris Brown.
