Draymond Green provides the Celtics with more newsletter material for the NBA Finals

The Boston Celtics don’t really need more motivation at this point in the season. In the end, they are just two wins away from beating the Golden State Warriors in the 2022 NBA Finals and securing the 18th franchise championship.

But if they’re looking for more fuel, maybe some comments from Warriors striker Draymond Green after the loss of the Golden State in the Celtics’ Match 3 match at TD Garden will give them a little extra energy.

Forsberg: Did the Celtics find the right formula for Robert Williams?

Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes witnessed an exchange between New Orleans Pelicans guard CJ McCollum and Green after Wednesday’s game. McCollum told Green that he would go on television and choose the Celtics to win the series.

“I must tell you this. “I chose Boston to win Game 3, I chose you guys to win Game 4. But in the end, I have the Celtics to win the finals,” McCollum told Green, according to Haynes. “I just want you to hear it from me first before you hear me say it on TV.

Green’s rebuttal must be pasted on a wall in the Celtics’ locker room by the end of the series.

“That’s good. These Celtics will still be ringless, just like you. Respect.”

Green likes to talk nonsense and get under the skin of his opponents. We saw this in Game 2 when he took a technical foul in the first quarter and almost got another one before halftime.

The veteran striker injured the Warriors in Game 3, giving one of the worst performances of his career in the playoffs. Green scored just two points with four rebounds, three assists, two turnovers and six fouls in 35 minutes.

There’s a lot of pressure on Green to play at a high level for the rest of this series, not only because Warriors desperately need it, but he has to back up all this nonsense with the production on the court.
