Dwayne Johnson Appears In Suit At Comic-Con With New Trailer – Deadline

Dwayne Johnson, dating back to his WWE days, always knows how to make an entrance and Saturday morning was no exception as the action star, fully dressed as DC superhero Black Adam, was elevated to Hall H at Comic-Con as the speakers rocked the room to its core.

Black Adam’s lightning bolts were adorned around the necks of those in attendance, which lit up when he arrived.

“Hall H, you have been warned. The DC Universe will never be the same again,” Johnson gushed.

Director Jaume Collet-Serra said: “I watched the movie and I like it…no more notes.”

Johnson returned to the stage in a more relaxed summer outfit after the Black Adam cast of Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo and Quintessa Swindell were introduced as part of the Warner Bros presentation, which also included Shazam: Power of the Gods.

“I heard Black Adam is here,” he joked.

The Black Adam team also released a new teaser for the pic’s October 21st release date. Check it out above.

“It’s been a long journey filled with passion and courage to push Black Adam – it’s been over 10 years,” Johnson said. In terms of working with Collet-Serra on the project, it’s been five.

“To be here at Comic-Con, Hall H, introducing a DC hero, an anti-hero, is a dream come true,” Johnson told the room. “When I started 20 years ago, many moons ago, I brought films here and hoped people would like them.”

“How can we create something that is fresh and unique… show and create something that has never been done before? My goal is to usher in a new era in the DC universe… How does it feel to build the DC universe as well with the Justice Society,” Johnson added.

Hodge called his Hawkman, who follows Black Adam in the film, “The Savage, The Beast, The Warrior.”

“What Carter Hall has been through with the JSA [Justice Society of America]…we started this shi*!” Hodge said. The actor admitted that when Johnson called him for the role, he didn’t believe him. He thought his phone was hacked. “When he said, ‘Welcome to Black Adam,’ that was one of the best moments of my career.”

Centineo said of Atom Smasher, another member of the JSA, “It blew my mind to be a part of this universe, the creation of Dwayne and Jaume.”

The actor said Collet-Serra wanted to bring a “young side” to Black Adam with the Atom Smasher character. “He wants to prove himself as a superhero, a young kid who wants to find his way in life.”

Swindell shared his experience playing Cyclone and choked up, “We’re two young people living our youth. We are thrown into this mixture with our powers and where we can exert more effort and identify with them. That in itself is a journey.”

Johnson said that “Pierce Brosnan sends his love, he’s here in spirit,” of the Bond alum who is MIA in Hall H.

A little boy asked Johnson if Kevin Hart was jealous of The Rock when he got the role of Black Adam.

“Yeah, Kevin Hart is getting jealous, but you’re already taller than Kevin Hart,” Johnson replied.

As for who would beat Black Adam or Superman in a fight, Johnson says, “pound for pound they’re close.”

“But it depends on who’s playing Superman,” Johnson said. (Unfortunately, Henry Cavill did not appear in Hall H).

The footage shows Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller making a cameo. Black Adam is indestructible against missiles and bullets. He’s also angry and reawakening, and it’s up to the Justice Society to put him down.

The explorers enter an ancient tomb and activate a magical symbol that brings out a cloaked figure that crashes to the ground in front of them. When the soldiers shoot at him, he uses his powers to kill them all and flies out of the cave, destroying two helicopters along the way. “My powers are not a gift, but a curse born of rage.”

The footage continues to introduce the Justice Society – Atom Smasher, Hawkman, Cyclone and Dr. Fate – as they try to contain Black Adam before he can cause more destruction. “I was a slave before I died,” says Black Adam.

Additionally, Warner Bros Hall H was missing any tease of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and The Flash from 2023. The studio still has a virtual DC FanDome, so it’s likely we’ll see more there.
