Elementary students were injured in an accident at the UBC Botanical Garden

Three elementary school students were injured after a car left the road in front of the UBC Botanical Garden on Wednesday.

The University RCMP team said 4th graders were on a school trip to the garden when they were hit by the vehicle.

Their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

“The three students, believed to be about nine or 10 years old, were transported to the children’s hospital,” the RCMP said in a statement. “Their families have been notified.”

The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators, authorities said.

So far, investigators do not believe that intoxication was a factor in the accident.

The University RCMP asked anyone with information about what happened to contact the team at 604-224-1322.
