Knife stabbing in Los Angeles hospital: 3 seriously injured after arrest in Ensino, arrest suspect
A man is in custody after the LAPD said he stabbed three medical workers at a hospital in Encino.

LOS ANGELES – A man stabbed a doctor and two nurses at a hospital in Southern California on Friday before barricading the facility, authorities said. He remained in the room for hours before police arrested him.
The Los Angeles Police Department received a call around 3:50 p.m.
The LAPD identified the suspect as Ashkan Amirsoleimani, 35. He has been charged with three counts of attempted murder with $ 3 million bail, Los Angeles police said on Saturday.
Amirsoleimani parked his car in the middle of the street and went to the emergency room, where he asked for treatment for anxiety before stabbing the doctor and nurses, authorities said.
All three victims were transported to a local trauma center in critical condition, Nicholas Prange, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department, told USA TODAY.
All three were later listed in stable condition at Dignity Health Northridge Medical Center, the Associated Press reported.
Helicopter footage from local television shows an injured employee in blue medical scrubs being taken out of the hospital on a stretcher. The front of the hospital was blocked with a yellow warning tape and about a dozen ambulances.
UPDATE: Two nurses and a doctor were injured during the incident and are currently receiving medical treatment.

Amirsoleimani remained in a hospital room for about four hours as SWAT team members tried unsuccessfully to negotiate with him before he was finally arrested, police said.
He was taken to another hospital to treat self-inflicted injuries to his hands, authorities said.
Hamilton said the suspect had a long criminal record, including two arrests last year for killing a police officer and resisting arrest.
The attack comes just two days after a gunman killed four people and then himself in a hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The attacker entered a building on the campus of St. Francis Hospital with minor problems, just hours after buying an AR-style rifle, authorities said.

The man killed his surgeon, whom he blamed for his continuing pain after a recent back operation, and three others.
Violence in healthcare facilities is something researchers have warned about in recent years: “The risk of violence in the workplace is a serious occupational hazard for nurses and other health professionals,” a recent National Nurses United study found. “The countless acts of assault, assault, aggression and threats of violence that are routinely carried out in health facilities demonstrate a frightening trend of growing violence facing health workers across the country.
