More Esso gas stations in Kelowna are shutting down their pumps.
Esso on Harvey Avenue and Spall Road in Kelowna turned off its pumps because they ran out of fuel.
“I went to two Esso stations and then filled up at Spall’s Chevron, but several pumps were closed there as well,” said local motorist Bobby Van Riet on Monday morning.
Van Riet says the manager at Esso on Spall told her there was a problem with the delivery trucks, which could take several days to resolve.
Esso is owned by Imperial Oil and its spokeswoman Kerry Scoby says they are dealing with ethanol shortages at the Suncor Kamloops terminal
“We have a fuel agreement with them that has affected the supply of fuel to some stations in British Columbia, including Kelowna.
Scobie says ethanol supplies have improved, “and deliveries from the terminal are resumed today, which means fuel will make its way to the affected Esso and Mobil stations in Kelowna.”
On Friday, the Esso gas station at Kelowna airport also reported a shortage of gasoline and had to close its pumps. The sign affixed to the pump indicated that the shortage was due to a shortage of ethanol at the Kamloops terminal.
