Explosions were heard after a huge fire saw 60 firefighters rushing to the scrap yard in Wennesbury

Explosions were heard as 60 firefighters dealt with a huge fire at a scrap yard in Wennesbury. Nine fire crews and a large-volume pump are on the site of Queen Street, Moxley.

The surrounding roads are closed while firefighters deal with the huge fire. Smoke streams were seen in the air miles from the fire.

It is believed that no one was injured in the fire or he needed to be rescued by firefighters. Police are helping to close the roads.

A spokeswoman for the West Midlands Fire Department said: “We had our first call at 6:24 p.m. We have nine pumps and a high-volume pump, about 60 firefighters.

“The fire involved mostly vehicles, we will be on the scene for several hours.
