Family tribute to “excellent father” and “much-loved son” Marcus Dunkerton

The family of a man who died in a village in Gloucestershire paid tribute to him as an “excellent father” who would leave a “huge hole” in their lives. Marcus Dunkerton, 40, died of a stab wound at his home in Thomas Close, Charfield, on Friday night (June 24).

Police and ambulance crews were called to Charfield, near Watton Under Edge, shortly before 11pm on Friday. Detectives said the first paramedics found a man on the scene who “unfortunately cannot be saved.”

Now his family paid tribute to him through Avon and Somerset police. His partner, parents and other family members said: “No word will ever be able to express the deep sadness and loss we feel as a family. Marcus was a much loved son, brother, partner, father, stepfather, uncle and son-in-law who was much loved by all of us.

“He was an excellent father. We have a broken heart. He will leave a huge hole in our lives and we will miss him very much.”

The family continued to ask people to respect their privacy in what remains a very difficult time for them and everyone who knew Marcus.

Grant Bradley, 46, of Blackwell Street, Kidderminster, appeared before a Bristol magistrate’s court today (June 27) on charges of killing Mr. Dunkerton and possession of an assault weapon. He was remanded in custody pending trial in Bristol on Wednesday (June 29th).

The police investigation continues and anyone who has information or personnel who could help but has not yet spoken to officers is called to contact the major crime investigation team.
