Oppo’s Reno series has been around since 2019, usually targeting the mid-range segment and offering a sleek design. Now the company has launched the Oppo Reno 8 Pro in the global markets, so what to expect?
Perhaps the most notable feature is the phone’s design, reminiscent of the Oppo Find X5 Pro. It offers a back cover and camera bump made from the same piece of glass, but here you also get flat edges. This design is identical to the Oppo Reno 8 Pro Plus that was launched in China earlier this year.
More than great design?

The Reno 8 Pro shares more than looks with the Reno 8 Pro Plus. It also has the same spec sheet, such as a higher-mid-range Mediatek Dimensity 8100-Max processor, 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz OLED screen, 4500mAh battery, and 80W wired charging speeds.
Moving on to photography, the device features Oppo’s in-house MariSiliconX imaging chip. The company says this chip is used for better 4K video in low light, improved 4K HDR video and higher quality selfies.

The Reno 8 Pro features a triple rear camera system consisting of a 50MP IMX766 main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro camera. Look at the front and you have a 32MP IMX709 RGBW selfie camera.
Other notable features include Bluetooth 5.3, Color OS 12.1 on top of Android 12, dual stereo speakers, in-display fingerprint sensor, and Wi-Fi 6.
Oppo hasn’t revealed pricing at the time of writing, but hopefully it’s a bit cheaper than last year’s Reno 7 Pro. The older phone was launched at Rs 39,999 (~$500) and we thought it was of questionable value in our review back then.
