Fire in Primark: Three companies will face prosecution after a fire in the city center

Three companies must be pursued after the fire in Primark, it became clear tonight.

The Northern Ireland Public Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that the companies are facing criminal charges for alleged health and safety violations.

It is understandable, however, that the alleged violations do not relate to the cause of the fire. Sources claim that the crimes are related to “alleged lack of protection of employees” and “[alleged] inability to ensure that non-employees are not at risk to their health or safety ‘.

A PPS spokesman said: “PPS has decided to prosecute three companies for alleged health and safety violations following a fire in the Primark building in downtown Belfast on 28 August 2018. The decisions follow a careful examination of all available evidence contained in an investigation file presented by the Northern Ireland Executive Office for Health and Safety in June 2021

“The prosecution is linked to alleged health and safety deficiencies that were discovered as a result of an investigation by the NI Fire and Rescue Service and the Northern Ireland Health and Safety Executive after the fire.

“Production will start on time.”

The fire in the historic building of the popular clothing retailer in the city center burned three days after the start of August 28, 2018. A number of businesses nearby were affected and the renovation of the building continued.
