The live broadcast of the Ford F-150 Lightning ended a few minutes ago, and although there was not much new or innovative information about the truck itself, Ford CEO Jim Farley released quite a few native tracks during his speech.
“We are already pushing the dirt in the Blue Oval City of Tennessee for another electric pickup that is different from this one,” Farley said.
This means that another Ford EV truck is already in operation. At the moment, the details are as sparse as they could be, but they are likely to be based on either Maverick or the new Ranger, which is due soon.
Obviously, when more information about the new Ford EV pickup comes out, we’ll give it to you. Chances are it will be quite a seller, given that Ford really can’t produce enough cars right now.
Farley is also annoyed by “an extended lineup you haven’t seen before.”
EVs are something like the name of the game for the future of FoMoCo. By the end of next year, Farley says the company will produce about 600,000 electric vehicles a year. That number will rise to over 2,000,000 in just four years.
“We plan to challenge Tesla and all those who want to become the best electric car manufacturer in the world. “It’s something no one would have believed two years ago,” Farley said. “Look at this truck and believe it.”
As for the moment, Farley says the Rouge electric vehicle center, where Lightning is produced, can build up to 150,000 trucks a year. The plant has been extended twice in preparation for a full increase in EV pickup production. The land where the Rouge plant is located has been home to Ford for more than 100 years, dating back to the Model A.
Another thing we learned during the live broadcast was that Farley was not afraid to excavate at Tesla despite recognizing EV’s name. He made two comments about the company – including one that asked when Lightning’s competitors would actually be produced. * cough * * cough * Cybercar * cough *.
I’m sorry, there was something in my throat.
