Four people were taken to hospital after a shooting during an unauthorized car rally in Scarborough on Sunday night.
Toronto police said it happened in a parking lot near McCowan Road and Milner Avenue, north of Highway 401.
Duty inspector Paul Kravchik said officers arrived and found three men and a woman with gunshot wounds.
According to paramedics in Toronto, one of the victims received severe, life-changing injuries, two others received serious injuries, and the fourth man suffered minor injuries.
Kravchik noted that there is no information about the suspects at the moment, but said that the shooter or shooters probably left the area with a white or light Honda Civic.
“It was a busy day in Toronto, obviously for this type of event. And it’s very worrying for us,” he said.
Police are looking to talk to everyone who attended the meeting with the cars and witnessed the incident. Kravchik said many people were in the parking lot during the shooting.
“There were a lot of nice high-end cars here, which I believe probably have dashboard footage. And we ask anyone who has these footage from the camera to provide it to the police or, if they want to remain anonymous, to review Crime Stoppers at 222-TIPS (8477), “he said.
Officers cordoned off the entire parking lot while gathering evidence.
“You can see some markings down from some white vehicles there. I believe there was at least one of the shootings (that) happened there,” Kravtsizk said. “Obviously we have some of the victims’ cars here that have now gone to the hospital.”
“We will do our best to successfully complete this investigation,” he added.
The Scarborough shooting was the fourth in the city on Sunday. Earlier this afternoon, police responded to three separate shootings within two hours, killing one man and seriously injuring three others, including two teenagers.
Police also did not disseminate suspicious information about these incidents.
