Armstrong, 34, is accused of shooting Wilson on May 11 – who had previously dated Armstrong’s boyfriend – in what investigators said could have been a deadly act of romantic jealousy.
A murder warrant was issued for Armstrong on May 17.
On the night of the murder, Wilson was staying at a friend’s house in Austin in preparation for a race, according to an affidavit issued by police at Travis County Court.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that his fellow cyclist Colin Strickland left Wilson at her friend’s home around 8:36 p.m., Austin police said Wednesday. Wilson had previously been in a romantic relationship with Strickland, while he and Armstrong were briefly separated, CNN reported. Strickland told investigators that he and Wilson went swimming and had dinner before he left.
Within two minutes of him leaving Wilson, footage of the neighborhood filmed another vehicle – which investigators later found was registered to Armstrong – at the home, police said.
Police went to the home shortly before 10 pm to find that Wilson was suffering from gunshot wounds, according to police. She was pronounced dead on the spot.
The surveillance video shows a vehicle like Armstrong’s near the scene of the shooting, according to sworn statements.
In the 24 hours after the murder, Armstrong was detained on an unrelated warrant and questioned about her vehicle, which was located near the scene of the murder, but she quickly stopped the interview, police said. She was then “mistakenly released” from custody due to a discrepancy in the date of birth specified in the order, police said.

Ballistic evidence confirmed that one of the guns found in the house of Armstrong and Strickland was the gun fired in Wilson’s murder, police said.
Surveillance photos and videos show a man believed to be Armstrong at Austin-Bergström International Airport around 12:30 a.m. on May 14, according to the U.S. Marshall Service.
Armstrong, an Austin-based real estate agent and yoga teacher, boarded a flight to Hobby Airport in Houston and then boarded a connecting flight to New York’s LaGuardia Airport, the press release said.
Armstrong was last seen wearing a black shirt with a pink chest design, white jeans, a blue denim jacket, black and white tennis shoes and a black face mask. She may have been wearing a yoga mat on her shoulders, the statement said.
Armstrong weighs approximately 125 pounds and is about 5 feet 8 inches tall.
