Gabriel Jesus agrees to a five-year contract to join Arsenal from Manchester City | Transfer window

Gabriel Jesus is ready to join Arsenal from Manchester City after agreeing personal terms for a five-year contract. The striker will move for a fee of £ 45 million following an agreement between the two clubs.

His compatriot Edu, Arsenal’s technical director and head coach Mikel Arteta were key factors in Jesus’ acceptance of the offer to move to the Emirates Stadium. Arteta knows Jesus well, having previously worked with the striker when he was at Pep Guardiola’s City coaching staff.

The arrival of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund in City would limit the chances of Jesus to play as a central striker next season, the end of his contract, and he considered it good to look elsewhere after five and a half seasons in Manchester after joining club from Palmeiras in 2017

Under Guardiola’s leadership, Jesus played in the previous three, but struggled to be selected as number 9. Last season, he scored eight times in 28 Premier League games.

The 25-year-old, who has 56 appearances for Brazil, will be Arsenal’s fourth addition to the summer following the arrival of Marquinhos, Matt Turner and Fabio Vieira.
