The Canadian Football League has initiated a review of Saskatchewan Roughriders linebacker Garrett Marino’s low hit on Ottawa Redblacks quarterback Jeremiah Masoli for a possible suspension, CFL Communications announced on Twitter Saturday night.
The #CFL has opened its investigation into the incident during last night’s Roughriders-REDBLACKS game that included the ejection of Saskatchewan lineman Garrett Marino.

The incident happened late in the fourth quarter of the Roughriders’ 28-13 win over the Redblacks on Friday night when Masoli had to be helped off the field.
Tempers flared when Marino celebrated the goal, leading to a confrontation between the two teams on the pitch.
“We’re better than that. … I’m not saying it’s a good play because Masoli got hurt and that’s unacceptable,” Roughriders receiver Duke Williams told reporters after the game. “We don’t approve of this, he needs to go back home to his family.” But at the end of the day, this is my teammate and I’ve got his back no matter what. [to] tell it right from wrong, because that’s my job.”
The Reds did not immediately provide an update on Masoli, but the early prognosis for the injury is not good, according to Lagi.
