Solar storms have always been a cause of concern for scientists and space explorers as they are expected to have huge effects on Earth. Now a massive solar flare has escaped the Sun and is headed our way, expected to cause blackouts.
According to space experts, Earth is soon expected to be hit by a solar flare that could cause a powerful solar storm. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) issued a warning for a solar flare that erupted from the Sun on June 14.
This solar flare could hit Earth soon and could be strong enough to cause a radio blackout toward the poles and other prone areas. The warning about the potential solar storm was posted by a physicist named Dr. Tamita Skov on social media.
On Twitter, Dr Tamita Skov wrote: “The long serpentine filament has spun from the Sun in a stunning ballet. The magnetic orientation of this Earth-centered solar storm will be difficult to predict. G2 (probably G3) conditions are possible if this storm’s magnetic field is oriented to the south!’

According to the space expert, the massive solar flare could erupt into a solar storm and could lead to potential power outages around the world on July 18, which is today. This solar storm could be a G-3 level, which is not certain to cause significant destruction, but could cause northern lights in parts of the world.
According to the definition of the phenomenon, a solar flare is an intense localized burst of electromagnetic radiation in the solar atmosphere. A solar flare can be classified into five main categories – A, B, C, M and X – with X being the one with the highest intensity.
The solar storm caused by the July 14 eruption could affect radio communications, causing power outages in certain areas. GPS users have also been asked to remain alert, according to the space expert. The solar storm may cause minor disruptions for those traveling by ship and plane.
