Google is launching the Pixel 6a and providing a first look at the upcoming Pixel 7 series

As part of its annual I / O conference, Google unveiled a range of new Pixel-branded devices, including the Pixel Buds Pro, another Pixel Tablet experience, an all-new Pixel Watch and three new Android smartphones.

Of the phones in the first place is the Pixel 6a. This new entry into the Google budget range and the successor to the Pixel 5a features a similar design language to the company’s 2021 flagship device, the Pixel 6 Pro, and will include the same Google Tensor processor that was designed and built-in. house from google. However, it reduces some aspects, including reducing it to 6 GB of RAM (from 8 GB of the standard Pixel 6). He also abandoned the main shooter with a 50 MP laser autofocus to his older brother in favor of a 12.2 MP camera; although it retains the ultra-wide 12 MP camera found in the 6 and 6 Pro.

The screen also gets hit with a slightly smaller 6.1-inch OLED display with the same Full HD resolution (1080p), but 60Hz refresh rate, not 90Hz on the Pixel 6.

These reductions probably won’t be a hard pill to swallow when you consider the starting price of the Pixel 6a at £ 399 / $ 449 / AU $ 749, which significantly undercuts the Pixel 6 (£ 599 / $ 599 / AU $ 999) and 6 Pro (£ 849). / $ 899 / AU $ 1299). Pre-orders for the Pixel 6a start on July 21 and are expected to be shipped a week later on the 28th.

Now to the star of the show, the Pixel 7 series, which is expected to be released this fall. The design looks sleek, with an aluminum strip that surrounds the phone and places the camera’s setup along the back of the device in a vertical bar, similar to the Pixel 6 series. The Pixel 7 has dual camera settings, while the 7 Pro gets a third lens – this will probably be the same style of camera setup as seen in the Pixel 6 series with a wide and ultra-wide option on the standard device and an added telephoto lens on the Pro. It will include Google’s next-generation Tensor system on a chip, which Google said will include even more AI-led performance improvements, new features and photo and video upgrades. Pixel 7 phones will come with the recently updated Google Android 13 software, which was also announced at the I / O event.

Each version will be available in three colors, both shared Obsidian (black) and Snow (silver / white). The Pixel 7 will also be available in a very light yellow color called Lemongrass, while the exclusive color of the Pixel 7 Pro is Hazel; deep gray color with copper metal accents. We should expect more news about the Pixel 7 in the coming months when it launches at some point this fall.
