Just days after launching an official recruitment campaign for health professionals, the emergency department at Whitbourne Clinic is closing for a week due to “human resources challenges”.
The Bonavista emergency room reopened this morning after a temporary weekend closure announced immediately after the provincial government launched its recruitment program on Friday.
Premier Andrew Fury knows the frustration residents feel when the services they need are not available. He says solutions will take time, but they are working on a number of strategies.
He says a system that works actively requires short-, medium- and long-term solutions, “like changing the spokes of a bicycle wheel while it’s moving.”
