PACIFIC GROVE, CA (KION-TV) UPDATE JUNE 22, 2022, at 5:36 pm– A friend of the victim attacked by a shark this morning tells Lovers Point Beach that he is awake and expected to be well.
Stephen Brumer, a retired professor at a college on the Monterey Peninsula in the 1960s, suffered a broken femur and none of his blood vessels were affected, so no amputation was needed, according to his girlfriend Jill Hanley.
Jill said her boyfriend was Kelp Pulse when he was injured. She said a large shark attacked her friend.

Pacific Grove police have shared new details about a shark attack on Lovers Point Beach at 10:35 a.m. Wednesday.
The victim was an elderly swimmer and they were taken to Natividad with significant shark bite injuries.

“The city will comply with state park regulations, so Lovers Point and Sea Palm beaches are closed and will remain closed until Saturday, June 25, 2022,” a police statement said.
The drone was stationed by Monterey Fire in search of the shark, and they could not spot it again.
Pacific Grove police said the Good Samaritans were able to take immediate action and take personal risk to save the swimmer.

PACIFIC GROVE, Calif. (KION-TV) – Monterey Fire said a man was taken to hospital with unknown injuries following a shark attack at Lovers Point on Wednesday morning.
The crews were able to pull the victim out of the water, but could not immediately say what their condition was.
Pacific Grove police say Lovers Point Beach is closed until further notice pending an investigation. Ronda Navarro, a resident of Pacific Grove, told KION that people can see the shark, but cannot identify what type of shark it is.
Pacific Grove City Council member Jenny McAdams says the victim was a surfer and was rushed to Natividad Hospital with unknown injuries. She said the shark was seen again after the attack.
Navarro told KION that a police commander said the beach would be closed for several hours.
