The BC River Forecast Center issued a new high-flow warning Sunday morning.
Localized rain has been falling since Saturday night. The river forecasting center says Mission Creek’s automated snow station has accumulated 25 millimeters of rainfall by Sunday morning, and streams along the creek near East Kelowna station are starting to rise again.
At 9:15 the flow rate is 58 cubic meters per second.
Upstream at Pearson Creek, the river rises rapidly. It flowed at 11.4 m3 / s.
While rainfall levels are lower than last week’s storms, the river forecast center says flows have remained relatively high since Monday night’s peak, so it is possible to see a sustained rapid rise relative to lower total rainfall. today.
Mission Creek was expected to peak on Sunday in the middle of the day.
The council comes amid a massive search for a missing woman believed to have been walking her dog near Mission Creek on Tuesday. On Sunday, her search was suspended due to bad weather and exhaustion of search and rescue volunteers.
The public is warned to stay away from fast flowing rivers, streams and streams during periods of heavy flow.
