Team Cherry appeared during today’s Xbox demonstration to show more of Hollow Knight: Silksong and announced that the game will be a complement to Game Pass from day one. However, there is still no release date.
Silksong, the long-awaited sequel to Hollow Knight from 2017, is a game that everyone hopes to see at one of these events. The original blew fans away with its dark, stylized graphics and kept them drawn to the punitive Metroidvania-style gameplay, which blended precise platforming with hardcore boss battles. And he personally made me fall in love with a bunch of bugs.
The sequel puts players in control of the Hornet, a popular needle character from the first game. Naturally, she uses many new skills as she crosses the crumbling insectoidal world of Hollow Knight, but here are some of the other features Team Cherry is promoting for Silksong:
- Discover a whole new kingdom! Explore coral forests, mossy caves, gilded cities and misty swamps as you climb to the glittering citadel of the world’s top.
- Get involved in deadly acrobatic actions! Master a whole new set of nimble moves as you dance between enemies in a deadly, beautiful battle.
- Make powerful tools! Master an ever-expanding arsenal of weapons, traps and mechanisms to confuse your enemies and explore new heights.
- Solve shocking quests! Chase rare animals, uncover ancient mysteries and search for lost treasures to fulfill the wishes of the oppressed and restore the kingdom’s hope. Get ready for the unexpected!
- Face over 150 brand new enemies! Beasts and hunters, assassins and kings, monsters and knights – you must defeat them all with courage and skill!
- Enjoy a stunning orchestral score! Award-winning Hollow Knight composer Christopher Larkin returns to bring melancholic melodies, symphonic strings and heartbreaking, soul bosses to the adventure.
- Challenge the Silk Soul mode! Once you’ve mastered the game, test your skills in a whole new mode that makes the game a unique, challenging experience.
Let’s hope we get a release date one of those days.
