Hugo Speer, the star of The Full Monty, has been fired from the Disney+ reboot series of the hit film after allegations of “inappropriate behavior”.
The 53-year-old English actor has been booked to reprise his role as Guy – alongside former castmates including Robert Carlyle as Gaz and Leslie Sharp as Jean – 25 years after the release of the 1997 Bafta-winning film about a group of unemployed men in Sheffield, who create striptease.
But after an investigation, Disney+ said he was fired from the follow-up series.
The streaming service said: “We were recently made aware of allegations of inappropriate behavior by Hugo Speer on the set of a commissioned production.
“As is the policy, an investigation has been launched. Following its conclusion, it was decided to terminate his contract with immediate effect.”

A spokesman for Speer, who is married to writer Vivienne Harvey, told the Times that he denies the allegations and plans to contest them. The spokesman did not immediately respond to the Guardian’s request for comment.
The show, set in post-industrial Sheffield, will follow the original characters over eight episodes as they struggle with deteriorating health, education and employment systems.
The original film, which had a budget of just £2.8m, grossed £207m worldwide. For a period it was the highest grossing film in the UK until it was eclipsed by Titanic.
Most recently, Speer starred in the BBC remake of Father Brown and as Lucius in the drama Britannica, produced by Sky Atlantic and Amazon Prime.
