Dominique Raab insisted he had not winked at Angela Raynor after facing ridicule over the exchange in the Municipalities.
Raab made a face as he accused the deputy Labor leader of “reversing” his position on the striking railway workers as the two clashed during the prime minister’s questions.
Raab said, “Where was she when the Labor front joined them instead of defending the public?”
Last night, sources close to Raab admitted that he had winked, but said that he had directed him to another MP. A source said he directed a “nod of approval” to Ian Murray, the shadow secretary of Scotland, who “roared loudly” in the Labor front and spoke of Raynor’s potential as a future leader.
