Two 16-year-old boys were charged after being stabbed in the center of Ipswich last week.

Police were called shortly before 9:10 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, to report that a man had been stabbed on Upper Brook Street, near the Cock & Pye pub.

This was followed by a quarrel involving two small groups of men, one of whom was believed to be carrying a large knife.

It is then understood that the victim left the scene and headed down Tavern Street to Tower Street.

The victim, a 28-year-old man, received a deep cut on his shoulder, a lung puncture and a wrist wound.

He was taken to hospital and his condition was described as potentially life-threatening.

However, he left the hospital the following afternoon.

A 16-year-old boy from Stomarket has already been charged with three crimes, including causing grievous bodily harm with intent, a crime and possession of an insulting weapon in a public place.
