Several developers claim that Apple plans to remove older applications if they have not been updated for some time.
The email from Apple, which was shared by several independent online developers, reads:
App Store Improvement Notice
This app has not been updated for a significant period of time and is scheduled to be discontinued after 30 days. No action is required to keep the app available to users who have already downloaded it.
You can keep this app available to new users for discovery and download from the App Store by sending an update for review within 30 days.
If no update is sent within 30 days, the application will be removed from sale.

These removals are part of Apple’s initiative to improve the App Store, which plans to make the App Store easier to navigate by removing abandoned apps or apps that no longer support modern iOS.

“To make it easier for customers to find great apps that meet their needs, we want to make sure the apps available in the App Store are functional and up-to-date,” says a page on Apple’s developer support site.
“We are implementing an ongoing process of evaluating applications, removing applications that are no longer functioning as intended, not following current review guidelines, or are out of date.”
Apple is not entirely clear when a game qualifies for removal or whether certain legacy titles will be released.
However, if this is planned to be a complete removal of older titles, it will be a serious challenge to preserve, something that mobile space has struggled with in the past.
Several mobile titles from such major publishers as Nintendo simply no longer work due to server closures, but for Apple to focus entirely on one player, the offline experience can be considered a strange approach, especially if applications still run on modern iOS.
