People were stunned to see Johnny Depp sitting in a pub in Newcastle with Sam Fender.
The crowds couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw the Hollywood star eating fish and chips at The Bridge Tavern on the pier. The actor, who had dinner with friends on Wednesday night, later joined the pub by the Seventeen Going Under singer.
Johnny was spotted in town the same night as his Amber Heard defamation conviction, which he won. He is expected to appear on stage with Jeff Beck during his show at The Sage in Gateshead on Thursday.

Janine Lachford, general manager of The Bridge Tavern, told Chronicle Live: “Johnny came in first, he was with a few friends, but he was pretty cool. He didn’t want anyone to see who he was.
“We gave him personal space and he was the most wonderful man I have ever seen in my life. My assistant is very pregnant and she told her how beautiful it is to be a parent. He was really down to earth, he was wonderful.
“He was amazing. He hugged me and I told him that I love him very much as soon as I saw him! He loved works of art and asked questions about Tyne Bridge. He said he had never been to Newcastle before.

“He eats fish and chips, he said the food is amazing.
The 33-year-old man, who lives in Jesmond, said that when Johnny first entered the pub around 5pm, he was sitting in the corner eating his food. She said the pub gave him the room upstairs, where he met Sam, who is from North Shields.
Janine said: “I don’t think Sam has met Johnny before. Johnny is doing a show tomorrow at The Sage. Whoever he was must have known Sam Fender, so they arranged to meet. Fender himself arrived about half an hour later when the terrace was closed.
Janine added: “It was amazing for the pub, I’ve never seen anything like it before.
“Without a doubt, this was the most surreal day of my life!” This is crazy.”
An excited player, who did not want to be identified, described seeing the couple in the pub. She said Johnny was wearing sunglasses and a hat.
The woman said: “He was here enjoying a soft drink. Fender himself was chilling with him. I was really excited, this is Johnny Depp in Newcastle! He was not hiding, he was just smiling. ”
