The former husband of Petra Ecclestone, the heiress of Formula 1, was involved in a money laundering operation worth 266 million British pounds, conducted through a gold trader, the court heard.
James Stunt, 40, is said to have received £ 46 million from an illegal scheme that laundered “street money” from crimes, including drug trafficking, using it to buy gold.
The defendant bought gold bars worth millions of pounds, which were melted into “untraceable, unidentified” gold grain, the court heard.
Stunt, 40, was married to 33-year-old Petra Ecclestone, the daughter of billionaire, former Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone, 91, from 2011 to 2017.
As a tube containing £ 250,000 worth of gold grain was distributed around jurors during his trial at Cloth Hall in Leeds yesterday,
