Johnny Depp explains his previous lyrics as “disrespectful” humor

On his fourth day of probation, Depp was cross-examined by Hurd’s lawyer, Ben Rothenborn.

He was asked about audio recordings of arguments with Hurd and whether she was the only person who had a problem with alcohol abuse.

“Sir, if anyone had a problem with my drinking at any time in my life, it was me,” Depp said. “The only person I’ve abused in my life is myself.”

Depp remains on a reassignment exam from his lawyer Jessica Myers.

Depp is suing Hurd, his ex-wife, for $ 50 million for a 2018 publication she wrote for The Washington Post in which she described herself as a “public figure representing domestic violence.” Although Depp is not mentioned in the article, he claims that it cost him a lucrative acting job.

Both Hurd and Depp, who met in 2009 and were married from 2015-2016, accuse the other of acts of physical violence during their relationship. Both rejected the other’s allegations.

The former couple filed for divorce in August 2016, issuing a joint statement, which reads in part: “Our relationship was very passionate and at times unstable, but always bound by love.”

The trial, which began on April 11, will last six weeks. Hurd has not yet testified.

Redirected by his lawyer on Monday, Depp explained that some of the texts presented as evidence by Hurd’s lawyer were intended to be “disrespectful” or based on Monty Python films.

Depp said he often handles “difficult or unpleasant situations” with humor.

In an attempt to de-escalate disagreements with Hurd, Depp testified that he would try to leave the room or leave their house.

“No one deserves to live like that,” Depp said, describing their relationship near the end as “horrifying.”
