Johnny Depp is mocking Amber Heard’s move to overturn a jury verdict on the grounds that it was excessive … countering that the $10 million verdict reflects the loss he actually suffered after she defamed him.
Johnny’s attorneys say there is clear evidence that after Amber’s Op-Ed appeared in the Washington Post in 2018, he had no work … did not appear in any studio production until October 2020. That alone, the attorneys say, supports the $10 million verdict.
In fact, Depp’s legal documents refer to one of Johnny’s representatives negotiating a deal for Pirates of the Caribbean 6 for $22.5 million. Just before the Op-Ed was published, the producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, went all-in, saying he really wanted Johnny.
As you know, after the Op-Ed, Johnny was persona non grata in the production.
Lawyers say Johnny proved with experts at trial that his actual loss was over $10 million…that’s more than $40 million.
Long story short…Johnny’s lawyers say Amber is grasping at straws.
TMZ broke the story … Amber filed legal documents last week alleging one of the jurors was rigged. Her legal team says a man was subpoenaed, but someone in his family with the same name — the man’s son — took the subpoena to court and became a juror, which her team says should warrant a new trial. Johnny’s team fired back…Amber could have objected early in the process, but she didn’t, so unlucky for her.
