DEFAMATION PROCESS JOHNNY DEPT W. AMBER HURD: LIVE UPDATES
The Pirates of the Caribbean star is suing his ex-wife for $ 50 million over a 2018 post in the Washington Post identifying her as a “public figure representing domestic violence.” Although the song does not specifically mention Depp’s name, his lawyers say it costs him lucrative film roles.
Hurd filed a $ 100 million counterclaim, accusing him and his former lawyer of plotting to “destroy and slander” her.
Depp gets off the witness stand
Depp interrupted four days of probation on Monday, with his lawyer playing an audio recording of him and his ex-wife after she publicly accused him of domestic violence and received a restraining order.
Hurd tells Depp he doesn’t know how to regain his reputation after making the accusations against him. Depp accuses her of bringing it by involving cops in a battle on May 21, 2016.
“The last time it got really hot between us, I really thought I was going to lose my life,” she said.

“Amber, I lost a man with a king’s finger, come on,” he said, referring to the fact that she cut the figure during a fight in 2015 in Australia over a post-marital agreement. “I had thrown a devil’s box of mineral alcohol in my nose,” he told Hurd, who is said to have thrown the bottle in his face during another altercation.

“You could say it was a fair fight,” Hurd laughs on the recording. “Tell the world, Johnny, tell them, ‘Johnny Depp, me, Johnny Depp, man, I’m also a victim of domestic violence’… and see how many people believe or stand by you.”
Depp’s lawyer, Jessica Myers, asked him what he said in response.
“Yes, it’s me,” Depp said soberly before stepping down.
Hurd didn’t like Musk
Hurd and Musk went public with their relationship in April 2017, but the short-lived affair ended five months later.
Hurd is said to have told former talent agent Christian Carino, who was once engaged to Lady Gaga, that he did not like Musk, according to a pre-recorded testimony from the agent released in court on Wednesday.
Carino was asked to read an exchange of text messages with Hurd from August 2017. “Dealing with separation. I hate when things get public. C, I’m so sad, “Hurd wrote to Musk.

“You weren’t in love with him and you told me a thousand times that you were just filling a space,” Carino replied.
Hurd complained about publicity about her love life, but Carino said she could avoid attention by not “meeting Uber celebrities.”
An ACLU employee wrote Hurd’s 2018 publication to the Washington Post
An employee of the American Civil Liberties Union wrote Amber Heard’s 2018 Washington Post, describing himself as “a public figure representing domestic violence.”
“I tried to gather your fire and anger and a really interesting analysis and form it into an article,” ACLU communications strategist Robin Schulman wrote in an email to Hurd.
At least three other officials were involved in drafting and reviewing the article, ACLU Chief Operating Officer Terence Doherty said in a pre-recorded testimony played in court on Thursday.

Hurd asked for the publication to be published shortly after the release of her film Aquaman, in order to benefit from publicity, Doherty said.

He also revealed that Hurd paid only $ 1.3 million out of the $ 3.5 million he publicly promised to donate to the charity.
Hurd announced in 2016 that he would give his entire $ 7 million divorce to ACLU and Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.
But when Doherty contacted her in 2019 about her next payment, she said she was in financial trouble. Depp’s business manager testified that the actor had paid Hurd’s divorce in full by the end of 2018.
Hurd has a “borderline personality disorder,” according to a psychologist
Hurd has borderline personality disorder (BPD) and histrionic personality disorder (HPD), a forensic and clinical psychologist testified on Tuesday on behalf of Depp’s team.
Dr. Shannon Curry said she met with Hurd, 36, in 12 hours and reviewed her medical, legal and psychiatric records to make a diagnosis. She described the disorders as “two sides of the same coin”, characterized by “dramatic, unstable and emotional” behavior.

“This temperament or hot head is really characteristic of borderline personality disorder, as it is very charming, representative,” Curry said. “It’s a controversy disorder.”
People with HPD need to be the center of attention, and when they aren’t, they often make up stories or take on the role of victim, Curry said.
Johnny Depp’s janitor says he saw “no scars, bruises” on Amber Heard
The couple’s concierge, Alejandro Romero, said in a pre-recorded testimony released in court on Wednesday that he had spoken to Hurd four days after the scandalous mobile phone battle and seen “no scars or bruises” on her face.
Hurd claims that Depp hit her in the face with a mobile phone on May 21, 2016, after an explosive battle in their penthouse apartment. Two police officers who responded also said they had not noticed any injuries to Hurd, but admitted in cross-examination that they had not made any modern remarks and that the apartment was dimly lit.

Six days later, she went to court in Los Angeles with bruises under her right eye as photographers snapped a photo of her in what Depp’s team called a complex “scam.”
The doorman, who was sitting in a parked car puffing on a vape pen during the show, said he was fed up with the Dep-Hurd saga. “I’m tired. I don’t want to deal with this lawsuit anymore. Everyone has problems,” he said.
I heard financial requirements
Depp’s Hollywood divorce lawyer, Laura Wasser, whose celebrities include Kim Kardashian and Angelina Jolie, testified to receiving a letter from Hurd’s lawyer, Samantha Specter, on May 24, 2016.
The letter said Depp had “forcibly attacked” Hurd in their apartment four days earlier and had asked for a “private and friendly resolution of all matters”.
Depp then wants to give her access to his black Range Rover and three penthouses in downtown Los Angeles in addition to $ 100,000 for legal feelings and $ 25,000 for court accounting.

But without further warning, Wasser said, Spector and Hurd went to court in Los Angeles on May 27 to receive a restraining order against Depp.
“With high-ranking clients, we like to get him out of the system,” Wasser said of quietly dealing with the divorce. “Mrs. Spector didn’t want to do that.”
Depp’s business manager Ed White told the jury on Thursday that the actor had paid a total of $ 14,250,000 in the divorce agreement.

White said Hurd’s financial demands “steadily increased” during the negotiations, starting at $ 4 million and eventually rising to a significant figure, which includes $ 6.8 million paid directly to her, $ 500,000 to her lawyers and approximately $ 7,250,000 in “community obligations” that the couple acquired during their 15-month marriage.
The trial resumes on Monday and Hurd is expected to speak at some point next week.
