Johnny Depp will not return to the Disney series Pirates of the Caribbean, said a spokesman for the actor.
On Monday (June 27th), rumors surfaced that Depp was ready to reprise the role of Captain Jack Sparrow, after the Australian edition PopTopic announced a possible deal that would lead to the return of the actor in the franchise for about $ 300 million (245 million pounds) ).
“It’s made up,” a spokesman for the actor told NBC News (via E! News).
Depp’s ability to return to the franchise was the subject of testimony given during a defamation trial between the actor and Amber Heard, his ex-wife. The trial ended earlier this month (June 2022).
Depp was asked, “If Disney comes to you with $ 300 million and a million alpacas, will nothing on this earth make you go back and work with Disney on a movie about Pirates of the Caribbean?”
“That’s true,” Depp replied.

Depp has played Captain Jack Sparrow in five films, including “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Dead Don’t Tell Tales.” An online petition calling for him to repeat his role has 800,000 signatures.
Earlier this month, a jury found that Amber Heard had slandered Depp in a 2018 Washington Post publication and awarded him $ 10 million (£ 8 million) in damages and £ 5 million (£ 4 million) in criminal damages. Hurd was awarded $ 2 million (£ 1.6 million) in damages but no criminal damages.
Hurd’s lawyer said the actor planned to appeal.
