Earlier, Liam Hendrix said he did not get along with Josh Donaldson when they were teammates in Toronto.
The current White Sox have more closely highlighted Yankees’ third baseman on Sunday over Donaldson, referring to Chicago’s short stop Tim Anderson as “Jackie” during Saturday’s game at the stadium.
Donaldson said he was joking that Anderson called himself “today’s Jackie Robinson” in the history of Sports Illustrated in 2019, but Anderson was offended by the blow and Chicago manager Tony La Rusa called it a “racist” comment.
“Completely inappropriate,” Hendrix said of Donaldson’s words. “And once you hear what is said after the game, you usually have inner jokes with people you get along with, not people you don’t get along with at all. So this statement there was complete nonsense…

Hendrix, who was Donaldson’s teammate with the Blue Jays in 2015, said players from other teams had similar experiences with him when they shared a club house.
“My feelings for the individual in question are quite well documented, the fact that we don’t understand each other,” Hendrix said. “And the fact that I’m talking about now, I think he was in four separate clubs?” And in general, none of them understood each other [with Donaldson]. So he is trying to throw out this story is complete and full of nonsense… I do not understand how he even thought of it that way. It’s just a delusion. “
Referring to Anderson, Hendrix added that the White Sox “have the support of TA in everything”, as evidenced by the clearing of the bench after Chicago hunter Yasmani Grandal clashed with Donaldson later in Saturday’s game.
“I am really happy with Yaz’s decision to stand up to him on the plate,” said Hendrix. “It shows how strong this club is, it shows the brotherhood in this club that we have.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said on Sunday that Donaldson had met with him and some Yankees teammates on the issue before Sunday’s match, but Hendrix revealed that some of the White Sox had also contacted Donaldson’s teammates.
“I know a few of our guys have made sure that a few of their guys at their club know exactly what’s going on,” Hendrix said. “He knew damn well what he was doing and he intended to be exactly what he was. He simply did not intend the consequences to be as rapid and as severe as they were. “
