The bombshell revelations from the Jan. 6 House hearings prompted the Justice Department to direct more manpower — and more real estate — to its investigations into figures close to former President Donald Trump, according to The Wall Street Journal. The newspaper revealed that the law enforcement agency has expanded the roster, office space and mission of the group of lawyers hunting down Republicans potentially complicit in last year’s bloody attack on the Capitol. The news comes after the latest rounds of congressional hearings revealed that multiple GOP congressmen sought pardons in connection with their activism to overturn President Joe Biden’s 2020 victory, and after the feds raided the home of former attorney The Justice Department’s Jeffrey Clarke, who sits on the House committee, found that he helped Trump pressure the agency to falsely allege fraud in the Georgia election results. But the newspaper also reported that the Justice Department was frustrated with the committee for failing to turn over transcripts of its interviews, particularly with Republicans who participated in mock pro-Trump voter classes in states Biden won.
