Justin Bieber has revealed that he suffers from partial facial paralysis after being diagnosed with Ramsey Hunt syndrome.
Earlier this week, Bieber canceled three shows, including two nights at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, and the pop star offered a health update on Friday.
“Hello everyone. Justin, I’m here. I wanted to let you know what’s going on,” he said in an Instagram video. a virus that attacks the nerve in my ear and my facial nerves and has paralyzed my face.

The Baby singer addressed fans who were unhappy that he postponed the shows this week, saying: “I’m just physically, obviously I’m not able to do them.”

According to healthing.ca, the Ramsey Hunt syndrome virus is thought to “infect the facial nerve near the inner ear.” Ramsey Hunt syndrome is rare, affecting about 5 in 100,000 people in the United States.

Recovery varies from a few weeks to longer, depending on the severity of the disease. Born in London, Ont. the singer said he would “rest so I can get my face back where it needs to be”.
“I trust God. It’s all for a reason, “he concluded. “I’m not sure what that is right now, but in the meantime I’ll rest … I have hope.”
In a separate post in his Instagram Stories, the Peaches singer revealed that he has eating problems.
“It’s getting harder to eat, which was extremely frustrating, please pray for me,” he wrote.
Charles Nduka, a consultant to plastic surgery surgeons in the UK and co-founder of the charity Facial Palsy UK, told Reuters that approximately 75% of patients with the syndrome can fully recover if given early treatment, including steroids and antivirals.
Nduka added that Bieber’s recovery is likely to remove the 28-year-old for some time.
“They will be under financial pressure and any pressure to return there as soon as possible, but this will only lead to long-term problems,” he said.

When Bieber announced that his shows in Toronto were postponed earlier this week, he said he was heartbroken.
