The Korean boys’ band BTS is celebrating its ninth anniversary with a shocking announcement: The band is on hiatus.
RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook announced the news during Festa, their annual anniversary event. K-pop sensations said they decided to take the time to pursue solo projects and “learn to be one again.”
The band thanked their fans and urged them to think of it as a necessary step for the band: “I hope you don’t see this as a negative thing and see it as a healthy plan,” said Jay-Hope. “I think the BTS will get stronger this way.”
Along with discussing their future individual endeavors – things are already underway for J-Hope, Suga and Jungkook – they reflected on their many achievements.

Ever since BTS appeared on the scene in 2013, they have been a force. To call the band successful would be an understatement: in 2019, BTS was the first band after the Beatles to have three hits № 1 in one year in the Billboard Top 200. They sold out Wembley Stadium in London with 90,000 people in 90 minutes. Three years ago, ticket sales for their tour toppled Ticketmaster’s website with an average price of $ 452. BTS doesn’t just have fans, they have an army – which happens to be what these fans call themselves.
The news of the break-up is clearly devastating to their followers, especially those who remember some other famous boy gang breaks. It is known that One Direction interrupted indefinitely in January 2016 and has not yet reunited. NSYNC has been technically on hiatus since 2002 and the band members are having fun. they said they did not separate seven years ago, but have not released new music since.

The future of the band is still unknown, but Suga made one thing clear: “It’s not like we’re breaking up!”
