Former TV news anchor Carrie Lake is expected to win the Republican nomination for governor of Arizona, handing a landslide victory to former President Trump.
The Associated Press announced the race at 10:09 p.m. ET on Thursday, two days after the vote.
Polls on the eve of Election Day showed Lake leading Karyn Taylor Robeson, who had the support of Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey (R) and former Vice President Mike Pence.
Last year, Trump endorsed Lake, who promoted the former president’s baseless claim that the 2020 election was stolen from him.

The race has become a proxy battle between Trump and Pence, with the former president and vice president holding dueling rallies in the run-up to the election.
Lake’s victory is Trump’s last in Arizona. Venture capitalist Blake Masters won the GOP Senate nomination, and election denier Mark Finchem won the GOP primary for Secretary of State.
Lake, who has been among the most vocal critics of the 2020 election, will face Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs (D), who has become nationally known for dismissing allegations of voter fraud, in the general election.
