Kate Middleton bears a striking resemblance to Princess Diana in Royal Ascot

Prince William and Kate Middleton led the Royal Ascot arrivals this afternoon, with the Duchess looking like the spitting image of Princess Diana.

Kate wore a dotted dress at this year’s races, similar to the one worn on the track in 1988 by her late mother-in-law.

And now, 34 years later, the Duke and Duchess have arrived in the first carriage of this year’s event amid the scorching heat that has risen over the southern half of the UK today.

William’s suit was covered in a sturdy black top hat as they were both removed from the crowd.

Meanwhile, the Queen’s grandson, Peter Phillips, arrived at the Berkshire Racecourse with his girlfriend Lindsay Wallace in the second car.

He was spotted with his new girlfriend at the Epsom derby as part of the anniversary celebrations earlier this month.

The queen was introduced to Lindsay earlier this year after his divorce from his ex-wife Otham, the Mirror reported.

Understandably, the 96-year-old monarch met her for the first time after a shooting in Windsor as a sign that the couple was “serious”.

A royal insider described the queen as “one of the most important people in Peter’s life”, so it was “only right” for him to introduce her to his new girlfriend.

Members of the royal family, including Prince Charles and Camilla, Princess Anne and Zara Tyndall, have already enjoyed a day at the world-famous reunion.

As part of the royal procession, fans Arthur Vesti and Mrs. Vesti arrived today, arriving in the same carriage with William and Kate.

The Duke and Duchess of Bedford arrived with Peter Phillips and Lindsay Wallace in the second carriage.

The third carriage included the Viscount and Viscountess Brookboro and Mr. and Mrs. Darby Dennis.

The fourth and final carriage included Mr and Mrs Richard Osgood together with Mr and Mrs Nico de Boinville.

Competitions held this afternoon on the fourth day of Royal Ascot include 2.30 Albany Stakes, 3.05 Commonwealth Cup, 3.40 Duke of Edinburgh and 4.20 Coronation Bets.

Sandringham Stakes will be held at 17:00, The King Edward VII Stakes at 17:35 and The Palace of Holyroodhouse Stakes will be held at 18:10.

Strict dress codes will no longer apply after the royal procession led by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Gentlemen will be allowed to remove jackets, ties and hats in all enclosures during the afternoon, which includes Group 1 coronation stakes.

The horses participating in the seven races will also be cooled in a special area with fog fans after a recent six-figure investment.
