Sir Keir Starmer is facing a police investigation into whether he violated blocking rules after he was photographed drinking beer at an MP’s office last year.
Durham police said they would investigate whether a violation had taken place during the Labor leader’s visit to the office of Mary Foy, a Durham MP, in April last year.
Police reviewed the incident in February and concluded there was no violation. The forces say they have received “significant new information” about an event in which Labor officials drank beer and ate curry.
Labor said it was a working event during the local elections. Conservative MPs disputed this and called on the Labor leader to resign.
